Return to training

15th July 2020

We are sure you have heard that GYMNASTICS has been finally cleared to go back to training. Hooray...

We know our gymnasts are so excited to come on back, and so are we. However, although the government has set the 25th July 2020 as a reopening date, there is just one last hurdle and that is our training facility the school where currently reside.

As soon as we get the go-ahead from Bishop Thomas Grant, rest assured emails to members, and everyone who unfortunately missed out on the last set of trials will receive all the return dates, fees, trial information, and safety measures that we have put in place. Plus what our Summer term will look like.

We are very much looking forward to seeing our members, and new faces soon. In the meantime continue with HOME GYMNASTICS, and don't forget parents, coaches are still doing zoom calls with gymnasts.

See you very soon.

Hardship Fund

25th June 2020

British Gymnastics

Hardship Grants funding available for British Gymnastics members

What is a Hardship Grant, and when do applications open?

The Hardship Grants Programme is an initiative from the British Gymnastics Foundation and was initially designed to provide financial assistance to British Gymnastics members to help them continue participating in gymnastics through times of significant financial hardship. The British Gymnastics Foundation has been running the programme for over five years now and has helped over 300 individual British Gymnastics members through the fund.

Due to the current crisis, we have been working hard alongside the Foundation to make more funds available, enabling us to deliver a special round of funding which supports British Gymnastics members suffering financially in these difficult times. The grants can be used to help pay for the costs of participating in gymnastics for individual participants.

Applications will open on 1st July, remaining open throughout July and August.

Apply through the British Gymnastics Foundation website

Who can apply for a Hardship Grant?

In this special funding round the grants are open to current British Gymnastics members who are in significant financial hardship and are at risk of dropping out of gymnastics as a result of COVID-19.

Funding will not be awarded to any of the following:

  • British Gymnastics members who are deemed to be financially capable of/or have the means to fund their involvement in gymnastics.

  • Any person who has made a false claim in the past.

  • Gymnasts in receipt of UK Sport Lottery funding.

  • British Gymnastics staff members.

Statement regarding the impact of Coronavirus on London Gymnastics activities.

11th March 2020

London Gymnastics Events and Activities

Like everyone else, the London Gymnastics Management Board is closely monitoring Government and National Governing Body advice.

It’s completely expected that we are receiving increased enquiries with regards to activities and our stance on this.

As of 11th March 2020, we do not plan to postpone or cancel any London Gymnastics events, but we are regularly reviewing government advice and liaising with the venue operators.

Working closely with our venue operators, we are monitoring the situation, and work with them on how to apply necessary prevention measures as advised by official Government advice.

We also have to consider the considerable financial risk of cancelling events at short notice, obligations to venue hire in some of our larger venues, and of course, the disruption and cost to our parents should cancellation become necessary. This is why we are reviewing advice on a regular basis, and any subsequent decision to cancel events will take into consideration the safety of all concerned, and the necessary financial and legal impact.

At this current time, all London Gymnastics event venues have been contacted and remain open for public events, unless Government advice forces a Closure Notice or a Deep Clean of the venue.

If this was to happen London Gymnastics Management Board would move into a crisis management mode and work closely with venues to consider cancellation or rescheduling of events and immediately communicate with our members, this would include issuing details of any refund policies.

At the current time, all entry conditions for participants in these events, along with terms and conditions for ticket holders remain in place.

As you are aware the UK Government has recently published its action plan on dealing with the spread of the coronavirus.

We advise clubs and members who have concerns about coronavirus to read and follow the current advice published by the UK Government. This advice is updated regularly and includes the latest information about the virus, preventing the spread of infection, the current risk level, advice for and about returning travellers and what to do if you believe you have symptoms associated with the virus.

The Government’s current advice is available online and you can access it by clicking one of the following links.

  • NHS information about risks, symptoms and avoiding the spread of the virus

  • Travel advise from the Foreign & Commonwealth office

  • Department of Health & Social Care latest information & advice

In addition, British Gymnastics now has a page set up to regularly update members on its own activities.
