"HARD DAYS ARE THE BEST BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN CHAMPIONS ARE MADE" - GABBY DOUGLAS

Competition Description

Gymnastics is a very complex sport involving the performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, grace, balance and control. Internationally, all of the competitive gymnastic events are governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). Each country has its own national governing body (BIW) affiliated to FIG. Competitive artistic gymnastics is the best known of the gymnastic events. It typically involves the women's events of uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, and vault. Men's events are floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and the high bar. Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills.

Other gymnastic disciplines include rhythmic gymnastics, trampolining, Team Gym, tumbling, aerobic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics. Participants can include children as young as 20 months old doing kindergym and children's gymnastics, recreational gymnasts of ages 5 and up, competitive gymnasts at varying levels of skill, and world-class athletes.

East Midlands Apparatus Competition 2017

Well done to our boys, who traveled to Leicester to compete as guests at the East Midlands Apparatus Competition. Some of the boys had an early start from being on the first few rounds so traveled up the day before. We were so pleased to enter the competition as guests, and was happy to find out that the boys had a chance to medal for individual medals on each piece of apparatus. Jack Page managed to place third place for vault, so we are extra proud of Jack as he's extremely shy, and has worked hard to get over his fear of the a watching crowd. Once again a big well done to all four boys, and thanks to the competition organisers for letting us be guests. Click here for results

Flying Angels Gymnastics Club Annual Individual Championships 2017

On the 1st April 2017 we will be hosted our annual In-House competition. It was a great day, we had record number of recreational gymnasts entered. They had a great first time experience of competition. Most were so excited at the thought of doing another competition, they were asking when the next one was before finishing this one. We always aim to make the experience of competition fun for new starters and beginners. The day was full of smiles, and loud clapping. We hope to recreate the experience at our team competition in May. Where gymnasts will team up with one other gymnast to aim to win overall best twin.
